In the past, many intercultural and global training and consulting services were marginally successful because they were primarily compliance driven, an exercise in political correctness, or focused solely on one dimension of cultural competence. However, when participants only memorize the appropriate response to a specific intercultural situation, the retention is often short-lived and the application ability questionable, given that intercultural situations are highly diverse.
